The Action Art Collaborative is a multidisciplinary team of St. Louis artists producing independent community engaged theater. Their producing model and creative process are informed by a network of activists, community organizers, and artists dedicated to social change. They are committed to examining the social and economic landscape of our city, using theater as a means to analyze and combat racism and poverty. They strive to build community and hope through lifting up stories of people power, solidarity, and social change.
ACTION is an original play written by Colin McLaughlin with Percy Green, and produced by The Action Art Collaborative. Based on true events, the play is a chronicle and celebration of Percy Green and his dedicated group of activists in St. Louis. In December of 1972, they infiltrated the segregated Veiled Prophet Ball and revealed the identity of the VP King. ACTION will premiere in December of 2022, free and open to the public, honoring the 50th anniversary of the “unveiling.”
